Crayonsmith is the music of Ciaran Smith. When he was eight years old, Ciaran robbed his sister.s Bontempi keyboard, and, together with a pre-historic radio and a cassette of The Beach Boys. .Summer Dreams., he began learning to play his favourite songs on keyboard and, later, guitar. Having played in various musical projects and bands from the age of twelve, Ciaran had always been writing melodic pop/rock songs by himself in his bedroom as a side-project.

In early 2004, Ciaran began playing live with close friends Ronan Jackson (The Coldspoon Conspiracy, Falcon Brest, amongst others) and Ruadhan O Meara (Hermie in Tweed, Falcon Brest) under the name Crayonsmith.

Having seen Crayonsmith play in Maynooth College in February 2004 with The Coldspoon Conspiracy and Hermie in Tweed, John Cowhie (AKA Goodtime John) kindly agreed to record one of the songs. After this recording session, Ciaran decided to buy a new recording device and set about recording his own EP, as well as continuing to play live, includng a slot at Songs From The Parlour, and also slots with Giveamanakick, Neosupervital, Giraffe Running and English band, Tex la Homa.

And so, in August 2004, Crayonsmith released the .You Get Down Here. EP on his own stayloosesongs, which provides a sample of his take on the melodic pop/rock sound. So far, the EP has been well received and a launch is planned for some time in September, as well as lots more gigs.
